About TrailNexo — Built by Hikers, for Hikers

I’m Ryan Cole.

I’ve spent the last 12 years hiking, backpacking, and car camping across the American West — from the granite slabs of Yosemite to the red rock canyons of Utah and the rain-soaked ridgelines of the Pacific Northwest.

TrailNexo started because I was tired of gear reviews written by people who’d clearly never taken their boots off pavement. I’ve personally tested the packs, the tents, the sleeping pads, and the camp stoves — often in conditions that exposed exactly where a product fails when the marketing copy says it shouldn’t.

What You’ll Find Here

Every piece of content on TrailNexo is written with one question in mind: will this actually help someone have a better, safer, and more enjoyable time outdoors?

– Honest gear reviews with real trail testing notes

– Practical buying guides organized by experience level and budget

– Packing checklists that cut the fluff and focus on what you genuinely need – Camping guides and trip ideas for every type of outdoor adventurer — from first-timers to seasoned backpackers

My Philosophy

The best gear is the gear that disappears into the background and lets you focus on the experience. A blister at mile 6 or a tent that leaks at 2 AM isn’t just uncomfortable — it can ruin a trip you’ve been planning for months, or worse, put you in danger.

That’s why I don’t sugarcoat. If a product has a flaw, I’ll tell you — and I’ll tell you exactly what to look for instead.

Whether you’re planning your first overnight trip or your fiftieth, TrailNexo is here to make sure you show up prepared.
